It's a very nice silk tsumugi and I simply love the stripes. I paired it up with a vintage Nagoya obi. It's pretty short so I might convert it into a tsuke obi at some point. The obiage has both red and black stripes , but all the red stripes are hidden in the back under the obi. For the 2nd day I decided to go all out in PURPLE and UME! I love ume! Purple is not one of my go to colors, normally, but somehow I accumulated quite a large collection of purple items. And no, I'm not willing to give them up! I'm very pleased with this coordination and definitely going to wear it sometime in February.
I'm also pretty excited about my new felt boater hat.

My friend Hong came up with the idea of doing Kimono Advent Calendar (except that she is SLACKING!), so here is my first entry.
The kimono is vintage komon, I haven't actually wore it out yet. I got the kitty paw obi as a gift from Hong a while back, and it remains one of my favorite obi. The haneri was made fairly recently and you can see how I did it in my most recent issue ofLyuba-chanhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/01071466695470184163noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5963031424826296248.post-81493026279557870202014-12-06T08:48:00.002+00:002014-12-06T08:48:30.964+00:00Western Girl Kimono Style Vol 1.2
The long awaited WGKS Issue 1.2 is finally here! In this issue you'll learn how to make haneri out of two cotton fat quarters and see one kimono coordinated with three different obi.
This issue is longer than the first one, and it felt like I was working forever on it. I finally had to stop myself and just publish it, because otherwise I would never finish. Wow I haven't updated in a long while! I did, however, update my FB photo album, so you can check out my most recent coordinations. Sadly, I didn't get to wear kimono as often as I would have like to, but that kind of comes with the whole moving-across-the-world-and-getting-used-to-the-new-area thing. When I found out that we will be moving to New Mexico, I absolutely did not expect to see more snow than I did in England. Yup, that's right! We got snow this weekend! It probably will be gone in a week and we will see no more, but still!
Of course I had to use this opportunity to take photos in the snow. I wanted to wear something very bright, so I found my much-neglected red komon (but it Lyuba-chanhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/01071466695470184163noreply@blogger.com5tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5963031424826296248.post-47154555688585678322013-11-23T17:14:00.001+00:002013-11-23T17:14:28.916+00:00How I store my obiage
Few weeks ago Naomi showed me a blog post about vintage gloves storage, so we immediately started looking for these storage containers to buy for our gloves and possibly for our obiage. After looking at many different version, we eventually settled on these ones, as they seemed to be the most sturdy of the bunch.
Well, after organized my obiage AND gloves, I'm proud to say that these Lyuba-chanhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/01071466695470184163noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5963031424826296248.post-85541685759750074692013-11-19T02:12:00.000+00:002013-11-20T14:02:57.607+00:00New life for an unwearable obi
Hello Everyone,
A while back I won this gorgeous obi for very cheap, but at the time I didn't realize WHY it was so cheap. You can see below the reason why no one else bid on it. I wasn't upset though, because I saw the potential for a nice tsuke obi.
Not only was the bottom of the obi in a completely unwearable condition, but there were tiny little holes everywhere on the Lyuba-chanhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/01071466695470184163noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5963031424826296248.post-37888679933122692932013-10-29T07:00:00.000+00:002013-10-29T07:00:00.656+00:00Cadillac Ranch in Amarillo, TXHello Everyone,
Last week I went to a whole day event called Fandango. It is organized by one of the local photographers I've met earlier in September, and I was invited to go as one of the models. I brought several outfits with me, so it felt like I was traveling with my whole closet lol! Of course one of those outfits had to be kimono.

Hello Everyone,
Back at the end of July I was contacted by one of the photographers on Model Mayhem, Wayne Hall, who asked me if I would be interested in a TF shoot with him. We decided on a date, and went to the Oasis State Park in Portales. The place was really cool, with lots of wild sunflowers blooming everywhere. Until this point, I've never seen wild sunflowers, and they are really cool!Lyuba-chanhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/01071466695470184163noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5963031424826296248.post-19730247125118596202013-10-27T15:28:00.004+00:002013-10-27T15:31:55.309+00:00Just Arrived #28Hello Everyone,
After selling off MOST of my sale stuff at the Japan Fest in Atlanta, I was able to buy me some things that I would actually wear. I have a LOT to show you! I'm pretty excited about all these things, even if I'm not quite feeling up to wearing kimono as often as I used to right this moment.
First up are chuya obi I got. As many of you know, we just did my 3rd (in my life) move across the pond, and that put a damper on anything kimono or blogging wise. In the past 2 month I just haven't been feeling like blogging, but here are some of the things that have been happening with me.

Some of you might know that I am a co-runner of Travelling Kimono Round 1 and 2, a project that involves taking one kimono and sending it around the world to different people. Due to overwhelming popularity of the Travelling Kimono, we decided to open up Round 3, but to make things different we will have an obi travelling instead.
We are calling it Travelling Obi Round 1, to keep Lyuba-chanhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/01071466695470184163noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5963031424826296248.post-54704308018617304932013-07-30T20:14:00.001+01:002013-07-30T20:14:35.379+01:00My website is live! On July 22 we will be leaving UK for good. It's finally starting to hit me (because this move is turning out such a pain in a butt that I'm ready to pull my hair out) that in less than a week I will be living in the USA once again. Goodbye frequent trips to London, Europe and my UK friends. From now on, it will be lots of Facebook chatting and once again following each other on the internet.

I hate moving. Absolutely, positively, completely and utterly HATE moving! We even have the worst part (packing up our stuff) done for us, but I still hate it. I still have to go through my stuff and throw out/donate/give away things I don't need... let's just say Kimono Room of DOOM makes me cry right now :(.
I could be wearing kimono, but I really don't feel like doing anything at the moment. Linda at Oranda Kitsuke used my photos for Go Hime Friday update. I absolutely love the way it turned out! She makes me look so good! :D :D
In other news, it's less than a month before our big move back to the USA and I'm slowly going crazy. I absolutely loathe moving. Because of that my updates might even get even more scarce than they already are.
I can do it!

Sorry everyone for being quiet on my end. May turned out way busier than I expected, with APAH stuff and our vacation. To top everything off, the weather had decided that it's November and not May, so it's cold and rainy. Any time I think of wearing kimono (like today), I look outside and change my mind. The rain wouldn't have scared me back in FL, as there are lots of places to go that are Lyuba-chanhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/01071466695470184163noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5963031424826296248.post-90893662599876337212013-05-13T23:37:00.000+01:002013-05-13T23:37:43.608+01:00Kimono Photo Shoot Fundraiser
This year I got involved with the APAH again, and a lot more than in any year before. On May 4th Hong came over to help me with a big photo shoot fundraiser on base. We started around 9am on the day, and didn't finish until after 6pm. I don't really want to talk about the day as much, because it didn't start that well. The second outfit I choose was more traditional. I had a kimono from Taisho era which was 165cm long which I snapped up precisely because of that, and the stripes of course, that I couldn't wait to wear. It is pretty decent in the wingspan too, and fairly wide too, so it was very easy to wear. Lets just say I'm really happy that I got this kimono!
