Just Arrived #8

Hello Everyone,

Looking at my Just Arrived posts you would think that all I do is shop for kimono... well it's kinda true. I just take a while to shop and don't post until I get my hands on the items. I lost couple of pretty nice kimono to SAL shipping, so I don't like to announce to the whole world that I won something only for it not to arrive :(

I'm not a fan of asanoha usually, but this one is an exception... must be the stripes :) Oh, and it's ro too!

This gorgeous fukuro obi will match one of my furisode perfectly!

I was particularly excited about this set of vintage obijime, because they seemed to be one of those "fat" kinds. Sure enough, every single one of them is wider than normal!

These two are my favorites and probably the widest of the set. The top one could be worn two ways, although it might not have been intended that way since the light pink side is clearly more textured. Regardless, I plan on wearing both sides :) The bottom one is so deceptively simple, but in real life it's gorgeous salmon pink & turquoise! Naomi would be proud of that one! Oh, and it matches my nails AND my tshirt that I'm wearing right now :)

  Again, the bottom one could be worn two ways so I'm showing both sides.

 The one with the polka dots is my third favorite. It actually has the leaf pattern towards the ends, and the polka dots towards the middle. I bet it will look gorgeous worn!

 Another sha kimono for me! I could never have enough summer weight kimono.

As always, I could not pass up more dressing accessories. I got a set of different white stretched tabi and another set of obi itas. If only I could be that lucky with winning other types of dressing accessories!

Kimono Challenge Tag #3

Not surprisingly my favorite kimono items are also my most used ones. 

I love this kimono because I've decided that it's non-seasonal one, and even if paper cranes and big sister dolls (Ane-sama nyngyo) do have a season I don't care! The same goes for obi. Although it is a fukuro, it so informal looking that I have no problem wearing it with komon. I would say that these two items are the best two purchases I've ever made :) And they look great together too!

I had a hard time with this question, because it was so hard to narrow down my absolute favorite items.

2. Your dearest kimono item(s).

I think this is my absolute favorite kimono because I actually have to stop myself from reaching for it every time I get dressed in kimono. 

I don't wear this kimono nearly enough, but it is very special because of the crest. The crest it has on it is a hawk feather, which my husband and I choose as our "family" crest. Now I can only buy kimono with that crest. Also, the color is absolutely GORGEOUS! Finally, this kimono reminds me of the time my closest friends went to take professional photos in kimono for our kimono club. 

I also don't wear this kimono much, but it is very special because this is literally my dream kimono item come true. It's bright red, just the right shade I was always looking for.

And this would probably be my favorite obi that I own. I also have to stop myself from wearing it every time lol.

Another obi that I absolutely love, it is just perfectly funky and matches a lot of stuff.

I love fun cotton tabi, but these are my favorite because they are red and have bunnies on them! :)

Finally this obiage is very special for me because my husband got it for me at a convention. He actually got me  4 others, but this was the one I grabbed and refused to let go.

Surprisingly I've been pretty good about buying kimono :) After all I already have a rather large collection, so now I only buy pieces that I absolutely love.

Within the past year I developed a fondness for kokeshi dolls designs, or any designs that look similar to kokeshi dolls. As you already can imagine, the kimono below was one of those MUST HAVES :) :)

I also immediately knew that for the first outfit I will pair it up with this obi :) Can you guess why lol?



It's a fukuro obi, but it looks pretty informal so I'm not too worried about breaching the formality rules. Plus, since it's longer it makes a perfect otaiko without being too short! This is actually one of the possible outfits I might wear to London EXPO in May. I decided to go in kimono, and knowing me I just couldn't do a 'normal' outfit. So for this outfit, I think the theme will be 'doll', so I'll try to make myself as dool-like as possible ;) I see big bows in my hair in my future! :P

My next win is a geometric design nagoya obi. I even know which kimono I'll try to pair it up with :) Sadly I didn't win an olive green nagoya obi, which would have been puuuuurfect for this kimono but I'm not too upset. Something else will come about, it always does.
